Electric Buses & Public Transport
Thailand already operates one of the world's largest 100%-electric public bus fleets outside China through private operator Thai Smile Bus, which decommissioned its last combustion buses in January 2024 and was recognised by UITP for the scale of its electric fleet. The state-run Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) has separately announced a plan to lease 1,520 electric buses, with a phased rollout reported to begin in 2026 — described here as an announced plan, not a completed fleet transition.

Battery Value Chain
Thailand's confirmed battery activity currently centres on module and pack assembly rather than upstream cell manufacturing — this page does not claim domestic production of any specific battery input unless independently verified.
Cells
Battery-cell manufacturing is the most upstream and capital-intensive stage. Thailand's 30@30 Policy
What it means
"30@30" is Thailand's national policy ambition for zero-emission vehicles to reach 30% of total domestic vehicle production by 2030 — not a current market share, and not a legally binding mandate on any individual manufacturer.
